Cholesterol is so confusing. Which kind is good? Which kind is bad? Wait, one type of the “bad kind” is actually good? They say that cholesterol leads to heart disease but that it is good for your brain? It’s all so much more complicated than that!

With cholesterol, the quality and particle size matters. And high cholesterol is really a warning sign – not a disease. In this program, we will help break down what you really need to know about cholesterol, and even more importantly, what to do about it so that you can protect your heart and live your best life for years to come.

Over a quarter of Americans are taking cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins. While statins are currently one of the most-prescribed drugs, there are a lot of questions around the value vs. the risk. The most common side effects are referred to as the 5 M’s: memory, metabolism, muscle, medication interaction, and major organ effects. Those all seem like a pretty big deal, right?

Conventional Medicine

The way that conventional medicine deals with high cholesterol is to try and intervene on the back end instead of attacking the root cause.

There are six areas that we look at when considering the root cause of high cholesterol: metabolic disfunction, infections, leaky gut, thyroid problems, environmental toxins, and genetic risk. Some of these require testing and personalized interventions, but many can be addressed through lifestyle changes.
